I took inspiration and instruction from these two blog posts:
Hand Painted Wooded Spoons from Going Home to Roost Hand Painted "Dipped" Spoons from Like a Saturday. Buuuutttt... mine didn't exactly turn out... I went with the baking-cure method from Going Home to Roost's post, but I think my two coats of paint were not yet dry enough.
Please forgive my dirty oven :$ Here it is after being painted and dried for about an hour. Looking nice.

Then as the oven heated up, bubbles appeared. I tried this with my least used spoon, in case something like this happened.

So this was kind of a bust for me. There are a few different methods for making these. I've seen instructions including coating the bottom of the spoon in a clear coat, just leaving the paint as is and this baking curing method. (These are all over blogs and Pinterest).
I'm going to try this again.(I WILL have glorious metallic spoons!) I like the idea of the baking cure method over leaving them as is, or buying another product to clear coat them. After comment-chatting with the lovely Bonnie (Going Home to Roost) I think I baked these too soon after painting. She let the paint cure overnight before baking. I think I'm also going to knock the temp down from 350°F to maybe 200-275°F for longer than 30 minutes. Just to play it safe.
Stay tuned...
