HA! While I do love copper and the copper trend that is in full swing, nothing can replace shiny timeless gold. But what if that gold isn't that shiny? I like a tarnished look but I thought I would do something fun this time and copper something up with some spray paint.
I bought this napkin holder from The Vintage Porch Etsy shop. I recently got a wooden cart for the dining room and had been looking for a cool napkin holder to store some casual paper napkins for everyday use. All big box stores were a bust, but when I saw this one... love at first click haha.

I wasn't sure if I would paint it when I bought it. I do like the gold (surprise surprise) but the space I wanted to put it in had enough gold going on.
I washed the metal with a steel wool pad sprinkled with Bar Keepers Friend before painting it. It had a little wear and tear but the wire shape was excellent.
I choose this Krylon Premium Copper because... well because it was a cool skinny can and a shiny copper top. I impulse purchased it at Michael's.
Viola! Here it is next to one of our solid copper mugs for color comparison!
It's more matte than the true copper, but the wires are so fine that it looks pretty real to me. I don't think I would use this spray paint on a large flat surface since it would look more artificial.
