Little Bubbles | Low Lather Facial Wash

Since glycerin and not drying our skin out is the focus of this series, lets do a super duper gentle face wash! When I say super gentle, I mean this baby hardly foams. I used just one mild surfactant and used it only at 20%. Low lather should really be "no lather" but I managed to get a few bubbles.
Where one would normally use water, I use mostly glycerin. I do add 10% witch hazel distillate which is essentially the same as water (formula wise). This could be simplified a lot. I added lactic acid because my skin likes it, hydrolyzed oats are always awesome, olive oil is my one true oil love and witch hazel is good for the skin. I used Cromollient SCE to incorporate the small amount of oil, and for its own benefits.
But essentially these things are being rinsed off... Soooo you could probably just do glycerin, DLS Mild, and a preservative. But! I had these things and I like tinkering! So lay off me! Juuust kidding hehe.
Wow doesn't that lactic acid bottle look jacked up? I really love the Personal Formulator (where I purchased it) but man, their labels S-U-C-K. I had to re-label almost everything I've bought from there since the labels discolor so easily. Their products on the other hand, awesome, perfect etc.

This product can be put together "cold" so you won't need a double boiler! As always with cold, or any products, make sure your equipment is clean. A bleach bath or swipe with alcohol can help. Not your scale though, I think it's fine to have a filthy scale! Ok, so to start I added the glycerin. You'll want to add the DLS Mild last.

The glycerin is so viscous that the hydrolyzed oats sit on top even though they are water soluble!

This is everything added except for the surfactant. You can add your preservative in the first stage because there is no heat that would deactivate it! I use my mini mixer to make sure it's all combined.

The reason that I add the surfactant last is so I can mix-mix-mix the first part without fear of a bubbly mess. Not that this would get too bubbly, but you can see some around the edges after I mixed the DLS Mild in. This will be a quite runny formula. You could probably thicken it up with Crothix but I had a jell-o incident with Crothix recently, so I just opted for thin.

I wasn't sure what kind of bottle top to use and put on a straight cap! Later I changed that out for something with more pouring control, since as I mentioned it is quite thin. Don't want to waste this good stuff*! To use, pour in your hands and gently massage face -keep away from eyeballs!- or pour onto a cleansing brush. My face did feel clean after this and wasn't tight and dry. I don't think it would take off much make up and isn't designed or tested to be on/in the eyes. I use a gentle baby wipe to remove eye-lip-face make up before using this. Glycerin is one of the few humectants that can stay on your skin through washing, so even though you rinse you'll still get the benefit of this dry skin buster!

*So of course I tried to force an orifice reducer (that SHOULD have fit) into this bottle top and spilled about 25% in the process! It left the wood floor very sticky and made a wet patch on my pant leg that proceeded to look wet even though it was dry. Jeesh haha
