Bathroom | Before

We have one bathroom and it’s tiny. Like 30 sq feet tiny. The bathroom was not in terrible shape when we bought the house. It seemed reasonably functional (aside from its tiny-ness) and everything worked. Unfortunately once we moved in we realized it wasn’t functional for us.
The sink is super low to the ground, even for me (I’m 5’1”). The shower is narrow and provides zero storage. The medicine cabinet is huge for the space. The gargantuan cabinet looks to be an old Ikea item, sagging with a few broken hinges. The floor is thin stick on fake tiles over linoleum, over wood? Can't quite tell yet. There is beige tile everywhere. To the point where replacing the too long - too deep towel bar would be a hardship. All signs point to this bathroom slowly driving us mad if we don't change it.

I have one true “before” picture, another real estate picture. This is the only one I have because the medicine cabinet did not last long. It was the first thing that came off the wall.

Under the medicine cabinet we found the original wall hole cut for a recessed cabinet. We also discovered the former owners had not only painted around this fiberboard glory, but TILED around it. #commitment.

The sink is a wall mount with a little cabinet built around it. Yes I believe that is a phone in it.

One of the stranger things… there was a small very old (very disgusting) medicine cabinet in the wall opposite the toilet. It didn’t last long either. I do plan to keep this opening for a little candle/plant/clock shelf.

Thin, curling, stick on greenish brown floor tiles. Don’t they just say “go ahead, try and peel me off”?

One of our many beautiful silver spray painted vents. Replete with scratches and gritty thick paint! I know you want to pet this treasure.

The shower is covered with strange pillowy faux tiles, reminiscent of a padded cell. The shower hardware is a brushed nickel, so we do plan on reusing as much of that as we can.

Got to love this always-wet-look shower door that booms like thunder when you accidentally brush it with your elbows.

I loathe this outlet. If you plug anything into it, it blocks the switches. All the doors in the house are solid wood. I would like to strip and save all of them. I don’t know if they are original, but the amount of paint layered on screams YES.

Stay tuned for our plans for this tiny beige baby!
